First things first, what exactly is Fairtrade?

With Fairtrade you have the power to change the world every day. With one simple choice you can get farmers a better deal. And that means they can make their own decisions, control their futures and lead the dignified life everyone deserves.

Giving back to coffee communities is one of the founding principles that Java Republic was built on and from that first day in 1998 to this that has never wavered. At all points of our supply chain we endeavour to give back as much as possible to those who are growing, picking, sorting and packing our coffee beans.

Fairtrade Fortnight – Commitment to doing the right thing

With us now in the middle of Fairtrade Fortnight it is the perfect time to reiterate our commitment to Fairtrade and fairly traded products. Both our Rubia coffee & our Java Republic Hot Chocolate are two perfect examples of how we produce amazing products while at the same time ensuring that the growers are more than fairly compensated. From the Mexican & Peruvian beans in Rubia to the Dominican Republic cocoa powder & Paraguayan sugar in our Hot Chocolate, we aim to produce Fairtrade products where possible. With Fairtrade sugar & a Fairtrade tea also in our portfolio our commitment to doing the right thing is clear to see.

Whilst it is not always feasible or indeed viable to use Fairtrade certified growers we do always ensure that our products are sourced from farms where standards meet the with the Java Republic seal of approval. We will continue to source Fairtrade products far beyond Fairtrade Fortnight & we will continue to work directly with coffee communities to ensure we are constantly improving the standards for coffee people.
