Annual golf day in aid of Carline Learning Centre
On Friday 24th April 2015 Java Republic held it’s first annual golf day in aid of Carline Learning Centre. Based in Lucan in Co. Dublin, the charity offers young people who have found themselves in difficulty a “safe harbour” and focuses on helping them develop confidence, esteem and coping skills whilst building up an educational portfolio.
The golf day took place in the picturesque Newlands Golf Club & as the weather held up it’s part of the bargain over 80 golfers took to the course. On the day the team from Red MIlls won the golf with a fine score of 86 points. This was followed by dinner, an auction and top class entertainment from one of Ireland’s premier entertainers, Jack Wise (www.jack.ie). In total the day raised in excess of €40,000 which will be used by the charity to employ the services of a clinical psychologist.
From all of us at Java Republic we would like to thank everyone who helped make the day possible. From those who entered teams, made donations, played golf and contributed in any way at all, your help is greatly appreciated and the money raised will make a real difference to young people in our local area. Java Republic Founder, David McKernan, commented “it has always been part of the DNA of Java Republic to give back in our local communities & working with Carline this year allows us all remember what’s really important in life & allows us help, in a small way, to a really worthy cause”.
